Principles are what matter

Thomas Jefferson said, "In matters of style, swim with the current, in matters of principle stand like a rock." At Huntsville Achievement School we attempt to focus on the principles instead of having a band-aid approach to education and dealing with students. Principles are consistent and simply covering over an issue never deals with the underlying cause.

What are our core principles?

1)Every person deserves to be treated with respect whether they are a parent, student, teacher, or an administrator.

2)Rules and policies are meant to be followed.

3) Every student should put forth his or her best effort.

4)Students should follow the direction of the teachers and administrators. When there is open defiance with the student believing they know what is best, then there cannot be an effective learning environment.

5)Parental involvement in the education and life of the student is critical to his or her educational success and maturation. Research proves parental involvement is critical to the success of a student.

6)Regular daily attendance for a student is key to his or her progress in the classroom.

These are just a few of the principles we are striving to implement at Huntsville Achievement. Over time in this blog we will discuss other principles we consider important. Remember, principles are enduring, not just a fad.
